STAMFORD — Students at J.M. Wright Technical High School took to the runway — wearing trash.
The fashion show — modeled and made by students — was part of a hive of activity for its Earth Day Celebration on Friday. Students were tasked with creating wearable fashion using any type of recycled material, including plastic bags and bottles, packing materials, fabric scraps and swatches, coffee filters and cardboard.
Wright Tech students also took part in an environmental education fair that included organizations like SoundWaters, The Kellogg Environmental Education Center, Bartlett Arboretum, Maritime Aquarium, and Greenwich Audubon.
J.M. Wright Technical High School is the only Connecticut technical high school located in lower Fairfield County. The school currently has 8 trades and draws a diverse student population from the communities of Darien, Greenwich, New Canaan, Norwalk, Stamford, Weston, Westport, and Wilton.
